Death with Dignity?

Unwanted and sick animals are put to sleep ... prisoners on death row are "executed" by lethal injection ... an innocent victim is starved to death. Where is the "dignity"? After 15 years and endless legal battles, Terri Schiavo has finally passed on. While it's a sad situation ... there must be a better way to "die with dignity" than being starved to death! After this political and legal fiasco, maybe the politicians will come up with a more "humane" way to die with dignity. Maybe Jack Kevorkian had the right idea.

I totally agree...I'm still as of this moment slightly confused with my views on "the right to die" issue, but either way, starving to death must have been awful, but I know that I would not wish to spend the rest of days as a living radish...

At The Movies

Caught a couple movies the last few days. Went to see "Hitch" with Will Smith, and tonight, "Miss Congeniality 2" with Sandra Bullock (one of my favorite actresses). Both were pretty good ... and didn't make you "think" too much. I thought "Hitch" was the funnier of the two, I thought "Miss 2" was a little predictable. But ... for entertainment purposes, they did the job!

Life On Mars

Having a busy "social life" lately (HA!). Tonight hit another one of my favorite spots, The Beach Club and ended up hearing a new band (first time there), called Life on Mars. They played some good 80's stuff. While they sang, they had the original music videos showing in the background! They were really good! I see they are playing all over town, so will probably have to go check them out again.

Was an interesting night for "people watching" as well ... lots of "spring breakers" out and about!

Take 2

Went out to a local "beach bar" called Sharky's tonight, to hear a friend's 7 year old niece sing with a band. The band, "Take 2 With Rene" was pretty good! Sarah did a great job as well ... singing some backup and working the "props" with the crowd! The weather was pretty foggy, and the band had to cut the gig short by one set ... but that was understandable. Had a great time with our little "group" of folks.

Still around!

Yes ... we're still around! Just haven't posted much lately. Spent last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, manning our radio club's "booth" at the County Fair. As usual ... not many folks stop to chat. But we always end up meeting new folks there, people watch, and make the best of the situation.

My brother and his two sons are currently here visiting from Alabama, and we decided to spend the evening at the Fair ... this time strictly as a visitor. Was a good time, and I think they enjoyed it ... which is about all one could hope for.

Baseball

Well, I'm not much of a fan of overpaid men playing a kids game, but went with a few friends to a Spring Training Game yesterday ... the Reds and the Pirates. It wasn't too bad ... the company and conversation was good ... even though I didn't contribute much - the other guys were catching up on old times!

Game went back and forth, and turned into a hitters dual toward the end ... with the Pirate hitters getting three homers in a row! The "hometown" Pirates ended up winning, 15 to 13.

The crowd also got involved! I witnessed at least two injuries (one to a small girl) due to balls hit into the stands, and one Reds batter lost a grip on his bat, and it went flying into the crowd! Who knew Baseball could get so rough?

Picked up a bit too much sun as well!

Irony

A friend of mine sent this today. Too good not to share.

Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address
coincided this year - an ironic juxtaposition. One
involved a meaningless ritual in which we look to a
small creature of little intelligence and limited
capacities for prognostication. The other involved a
groundhog.

Hockey Jihad

Here's a web site for disgruntled Hockey Fans! You can check out the demands of the fans, and participate in their Day of Hockey and National Day of Sell-outs on March 18th. I think I'll wear my colors on the 18th in support of the effort!
