Star Trek meets Monty Python

Since I'm a big Monty Python fan, I thought this was very funny!

Some Recognition

A friend of mine had a nice little article written about her in a local monthly paper, West Coast Woman. It's nice to see her get some recognition for the hard work and the long hours she puts in.

Farewell Pepper Dennis

I'm not sure what it is about TV executives ... but they always seem to have different tastes than me! I really enjoyed the show "Pepper Dennis" starring Rebecca Romijn, but the folks over at WB decided to cancel it, and the last show aired last night. Maybe the season will come out on DVD ... might be something worth picking up.

The 4th ... North Korean style

North Korea decided to get in on the 4th of July festivities, by launching 7 missiles (Russian sources say 10) yesterday. Among them, was their long-range Taepodong-2, which had everyone worried, but it failed 42 seconds after launch - a good reason not to buy any "Made in North Korea" products!

Maybe they'll try again on New Year's Eve.

On the other hand, the Space Shuttle Discovery had a successful 4th of July launch yesterday.

World Cup

Not really into soccer, but have been watching a few of the World Cup matches from Germany. Today is the first semi-final game, Germany vs. Italy. Should make for an interesting match with the host country playing for a chance to get into the finals. Being somewhat biased, I think I'll help cheer for Germany!

UPDATE: Germany lost 2-0 in the last couple minutes of overtime.

More Matchmaking ...

Staying with today's theme of matchmaking in Sarasota, this bit of news ...

After 40 years together, Sarasota has been dumped as a sister city to Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Replublic.

But don't worry. We've got more "friends" to help us through.

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Perpignan, France
Vladimir, Russia
Tel Mond, Israel
Dunfermline, Scotland

Treviso, Italy will be next on our "Sister City" list in February 2007, and a couple unnamed "wannabes" from China and Poland are trying to get on the list.

It's nice to have friends in a time like this.

Sarasota: Great for singles!

Read a story today saying Forbes magazine named Sarasota one of the top 10 American counties for single men and women.

That is, of course, if you are between the ages of 55 and 74 and make more than $200,000. That leaves me out ... on both counts!

I really think if you make more than $200,000 you'd do pretty well, regardless of age.

Funny Videos

Yeah ... it's been awhile! Been sort of busy, and not really much to report on, but will try to do better!

Found this site today, Virob, which has some pretty funny video content!

Only had a few minutes to look around, but these two were great ...

We've all seen the Pepsi and Mentos videos, but not like this!

And one good reason not to sing at work.

Enjoy!!
