Sweet Home Alabama

Just back from spending a few days up in Birmingham, Alabama, to
attend my brother's wedding. Really like the area in the hills
around the city. Met some of his friends - a nice group of people.
But that's really no surprise, since one of the things you notice
right away, is how warm and friendly the folks in Alabama are.
And, if you're a guy, the next thing you notice, is how attractive
all the women are! It must be something in the water.

Think I'm going to have to spend some more time up there in the
future ... just need to find out what to do and where to go.
The few times I've been up there, haven't done much, but think
it would be nice to soak up some of the local atmosphere. I did
get one offer to show me around the next time I'm up there.
Thanks Ivy, maybe I'll take you up on it (we also share the same Birthday). There's also a neighbor of my brother, Heather, that I regret not being able to spend some time talking to. Think she might be a lot of fun to hang around with. And not to leave out Doug, my brother's Best Man. Had a good time talking and hanging out with him before the wedding and at the reception.

I have heard before that people in places like Alabama and Tennessee are very nice. Is that just a myth?

Do you find the people in Florida unfriendly?

I think "Southern Hospitality" is alive and well, and not just a myth. This comes mainly from the folks who are born, raised, and still live in the south.

I don't necessarily find people in Florida to be unfriendly, but it's just not the same. Florida is a giant "melting pot", where folks from all over the country come together and mix things up. You'll probably find the same "Southern Hospitality" from the Florida natives living in rural areas ... but you won't find it in the cities.
